CHRISTOPHER LANGTON
From October 12 to 28, Christopher Langton's Chicks are a major feature at Federation Square as part of the Melbourne International Arts Festival. Suspended high inside the Atrium, Langton's smooth and glossy, plastic inflatables are a humorous take on Western culture's obsession with appearances.

JUDY WATSON
Judy Watson is the winner of the 2006 Clemenger Contemporary Art Award. Her paintings from the series groundwater are on display at the Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia until October 22. Valued at $40,000 and one of Australia's most important prizes, the Clemenger Contemporary Art Award and exhibition is held every three years at the National Gallery of Australia.

JUDY WATSON
Judy Watson has won The Telstra Works on Paper Award for her work a preponderance of aboriginal blood. The 23rd Telstra National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Art Award is on display at the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory in Darwin until October 22.

BRENT HARRIS
From August 4 to November 12, TarraWarra Museum of Art will present its first Biennale: Parellel Lives: Australian Painting Today. As the painted image lies at the heart of the TarraWarra collection, guest curator Victoria Lynn featured works by seventeen Australian painters, including Brent Harris. Each artist has been influenced by contemporary culture and today’s political environment.

LOUISE FORTHUN
Louise Forthun has been commissioned to create a 9 metre frieze to be included in the exhibition Micro Macro City to be held at the Australian Pavilion during the 2006 Venice Architectural Biennale. The exhibition opens on September 6.

PETER ATKINS
After completing a two month residency at the Victorian Tapestry Workshop, Peter Atkins has produced Special Project: Remnant Threads. This exhibition, comprising a suite of 12 works, continues his interest in 'an experiential recording of his environment through the collecting and assembling of discarded ephemera'.

During his residency, Peter Atkins watched the weavers produce a number of tapestries based on paintings by Louise Forthun, John Cattapan and Ken Whisson among others. By incorporating the weavers' discarded yarns and cottons into his own works, Atkins' in effect catalogued the unique palette of each tapestry and hence each artist's painting.

Special Project: Remnant Threads can been seen at the Victoria Tapestry Workshop, South Melbourne from 4 July to 7 August.

JUDY WATSON
Recent paintings by Judy Watson are included in Dreaming Their Way: Australian Aboriginal Women Painters at the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, DC. The exhibition runs from June 30 - September 24 2006.

DAVID WADELTON
As part of the Cultural Program of the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany, the German Parliament invited artists from the six Football Confederations to make works for the exhibition: Art and Football at the German Parliament.

Amongst the seventeen artists represented in the exhibition are Andreas Gursky (Germany), Luo Brothers (China), Beatriz Milhazes (Brazil) and David Wadelton (Australia).

Embracing photography, painting, installation and video, the exhibition illustrates the relevance of football in various world cultures.

BILL HENSON
From October 11 to December 10, the Victoria and Albert Museum, London will present Twilight - Photography in the Magic Hour. The exhibition brings together works by Philip Lorca Di Corcia, Gregory Crewson, Robert Adams and Bill Henson.

JUDY WATSON
The Musee du quai Branly, Paris, is a major new museum dedicated to the art and culture of the indigenous peoples of the Americas, Africa, Asia and Oceania. Located on the banks of the Seine near the Eiffel Tower, Musee du quai Branly aims to become a major attraction competing with the nearby Louvre and Musee d'Orsay.

The museum, to be opened by President Jacques Chirac on 22 June 2006, features a number of significant art commissions which form part of the fabric of the building.

Designed by the acclaimed French architect Jean Nouvel, this landmark building incorporates glass ceilings and huge ground floor windows onto which Judy Watson's artwork is etched.

PATRICIA PICCININI
Patricia Piccinini's important new sculpture Nest is currently on view in Lang Leve Beeldhouwkunst! (Long Live Sculpture!) at Middleheim Museum, Antwerp. Among the eleven artists invited to exhibit are Yoshitomo Nara and Katharina Fritsch.

The exhibition, which investigates the status and relevance of sculpture as a medium in contemporary art, argues that as an artistic discipline with a long past, Sculpture! has an intriging future embracing installation and video.

The exhibition runs until September 19, 2006.

ROSEMARY LAING
The Unquiet Landscapes of Rosemary Laing, a major solo exhibition organised by the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney is currently on exhibition at Kunsthallen Brandts, Denmark. The exhibition, opened on 19 May by His Excellency The Australian Ambassador, Mr Matthew Peek, continues until 3 September 2006.

PATRICIA PICCININI
Art Taipei 2006 - the largest art fair in Taiwan - has invited Patricia Piccinini to attend this year's exhibition as Artist of the Year. She will display photographs, sculptures and wall panels that highlight her concern for species affected by genetic engineering from 5 to 9 May in the Hua Shan Cultural and Creative Industry Centre.

TROY INNOCENT
Described as a 'city within a city', Melbourne's newest development Digital Harbour, will accommodate technology based industries. Troy Innocent has won a major public art commission for Port 1010, a landmark building and gateway to Digital Harbour.

Situated between three major buildings at Digital Harbour, Troy Innocent’s Field of Play is an oversized digital game installed in a walkway comprising painted steel sculptures, laser cut aluminium, illuminated stainless steel grates, moving light installation and treated paved areas.

Just a Feeling: Brent Harris, selected works 1987-2005 is a significant exhibition surveying Brent Harris' practice since 1987. This exhibition of nearly fifty works looks at Harris' recurrent themes and includes key works and groups of paintings. Exhibition dates: 11 February to 7 May 2006.

Patricia Piccinini - In Another Life, City Gallery, Wellington, is Piccinini's first solo exhibition in New Zealand. Encompassing sculpture, photographs and video, the exhibition includes major, new work: Nature's Little Helpers 2005, When my baby (When my baby) 2005, Cyclepups 2005 and Radial 2005. As part of the International Arts Festival, In Another Life runs from 19 February to 11 June 2006.
